The 2010 model of Toyota's iconic 4Runner SUV has all the grit to tackle trails, while bringing new buzz to tailgating.

The recent presentation on the new 4Runner at the monthly meeting of the New England Motor Press Association had all the usual video clips showing the vehicle trekking down the Rubicon trail out west—and believe me its no walk in the park (view video below).
But being the technical guy, I usually key on new technology features being introduced on a car. And the 4Runner has its share, including:
- Improved aerodynamics, both above and underneath, which led to a drag coefficient reduction from 0.40 to 0.36 to boost highway fuel economy to 23 mpg.
- Crawl Control that adjusts the throttle and brakes at slow, preset downhill speeds so all the driver need do is choose a line to negotiate with steering.
- And an audio system Party Mode. Pushing a button to the right of the steering wheel "optimizes sound at the rear hatch" when it is open, providing greater tailgating ambiance.
Party on, offroaders, and football fans!
