Predicting increasing revenues for analog ICs across all sectors, Databeans predicts particular strength in the communications and consumer-electronics segments. Noting increasing demand for portable devices and consumption growth in Asia-PAC, Databeans analysts expect the analog IC market to reach $36.2 billion.
The company observes that, as a class, analog ICs resist commoditizing pressures, enjoy long product lifetimes, and benefit from stable pricing when compared to digital ICs. A stronger-than-expected recovery for analog IC markets results from demand growth for power-management ICs, signal-processing devices, and interface chips.
Databeans predicts 2010 sales of 36 slightly more than $2 billion for analog ICs. Of this total sales figure, about $15 billion reflect general-purpose analog IC revenues while application-specific analog ICs account for roughly $21 billion.
