Pssst – wanna win an LED lighting development kit? That’s right, Texas Instruments is letting me give away one of their slick little LED Piccolo-powered LED developer’s Kits to the person who comes up with the coolest application for it. Up for grabs is a complete development kit, which includes a modular mother board that contains all the electronics required to support 8+ channels of high-precision LED lighting and a complete suite of software development tools – valued at $379 (USD). If you want some details about the kit, check out TI’s demo video below site or check out my May 7 review.
The contest, co-sponsored by TI and TechBites, will be formally announced in the next week or so but I wanted to give my regular readers a bit of advance notice to help you get your creative juices flowing over the weekend. We’ll post the contest rules and instructions on how to enter shortly but for now you should start thinking about an application that can make good use of the power, flexibility and low cost-per-channel offered by TI’s LED controller. Since entries will be scored for both creativity and market potential, your application can be as practical as a smart surgical light for improving visibility in during tricky operations or as creative as the bicycle wheel lighting system I saw at Maker Faire See the video below.
And now for the legal fine print:
1 Please note that the contest winner selection is final and will be chosen by me, Lee Goldberg.
2 Since TI is giving away a pricey dev kit, they deserve something in return so by entering this contest, you are giving permission for Texas Instruments to follow up with you via email to see if they can help you with your particular application.
Other details to follow soon so keep your browser pointed at this space!
