The fate of NuSym becomes clear

While I have seen no announcements, it becomes clear today that Synopsys has acquired the assets of NuSym, a company that looked as if they had exciting technology a few years back and was one of the early companies in the “intelligent testbench” era.
There had been lots of rumors around DAC this year that NuSym was not on the exhibitor list, their CTO, Chris Wilson was working in the Jasper booth and could only tell me that there would be an announcement soon. I saw no announcement, but Janick Bergeron spilled the beans in an article he wrote today in which he said “That is where newly acquired technology from Nusym will help. The article was about filling coverage holes and he claims “Their secret sauce traces the effect of random input values on expressions inside the design.” Well, that is the same claim that NuSym always had, but clearly few people were buyers of it. We shall see if Synopys can turn it into a real product.
