Cadence will ...

Lots of interesting scenarios for Cadence ...
a) Cadence takes the money and runs, along with the other investors, as part of CoWare's 'exit' via acquisition by Synopsys.
b) Cadence takes the money and runs, taking back SPW/BoNES with it.
c) Cadence takes the money and runs as in 'a' plus goes after ARM SoC Designer (Axys) now in the custody of Carbon. [This is wild speculation on my part!]
Whatever happens, this is another sign that a recovery is under way! :)

I totally agree with (c). A large part of the value of a virtual prototype comes from the models. Without models, the tool is worthless. Carbon has a way to create models - albeit from the bottom up, but this is a good way to deal with legacy issues. Imperas on the other hand has high-level models, some of which are certified by the processor vendors.
