Existing standards (TLM, hopefully soon CCI) do well at describing "how" to write the models, but conspicuously absent is the description of "what" should be modeled. Just as important, what should not be modeled? What is the appropriate level of abstraction for certain domains? For example in automotive microcontroller modeling should the flash programming be supported? Is it more important to model the data flash programming vs. code flash? Naturally the "what" questions and answers may be domain specific and depend on user, but some standardization in this area would help many.
